Un altro pezzo di storia che se ne va …

Lo vidi la prima volta al teatro tenda di Milano, forse era il 1981, ma non ho certezze, troppi anni e troppi concerti sono passati. Accompagnava Eric Clapton nella sua tournée, era il mese di gennaio e a fine concerto, all’uscita, cadeva la neve. Sembrava un sogno, un dolce sogno, la chitarra di Eric ed il basso di Donald sono il ricordo piu’ bello tra le trame musicali di badge, layla….

(ANSA) – NEW YORK – Ieri E’ morto nel sonno a Tokyo, dov’era in tournee’, Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn, 70 anni, bassista americano componente della band Booker T. La morte e’ stata annunciata via Facebook dall’amico e collega Steve Cropper, che lo accompagnava nel tour. Nato a Memphis nel 1941, Dunn ha suonato con Eric Clapton e Neil Young. Nell’80 ha interpretato se stesso nel film ‘Blues Brothers’. Nel 2007 aveva ricevuto un Grammy per il suo lavoro.

Intanto ieri sera grande performance dei Judas Priest a Mantova … pur essendo un fan assoluto dei Maiden,devo ammettere che Rob Halford e soci, pur più vecchietti, sono ancora una spanna sopra nei live.

Black Sabbath have announced that they will be releasing a new ‘Best Of’ album next month.

The compilation, which is titled ‘Iron Man: The Best Of Black Sabbath’, will be released on June 4 and contains a total of 14 tracks.

The album contains a selection of tracks from across the metal legends’ back catalogue, including ‘Iron Man’, ‘War Pigs’, ‘Changes’, ‘Paranoid’ and ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’.

Black Sabbath will headline this summer’s Download Festival along with The Prodigy and Metallica over the weekend of June 8-10, and last week announced that they will play a small show at Birmingham’s O2 Academy on May 19 to warm up for the festival.

The band are currently recording a brand new album and will tour the world throughout the rest of the year, although guitarist Tony Iommi, who is currently undergoing treatment for lymphoma, will not take part in a large chunk of the band’s summer tour dates.

The shows will see frontman Ozzy Osbourne joined by special guests including former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Geezer Butler and Zakk Wylde. Iommi will, however, play at Download and at the Birmingham gig.

Although Iommi will play, there is still no word on whether the band’s estranged drummer Bill Ward will be part of the line-up for the show. The drummer had previously revealed he was unhappy with the contract for the band’s new album and world tour and claimed he would not take part in the new album sessions and shows if a ‘fair agreement’ was not met.

As a result of this, the remaining members of the band vowed to carry on without him. They have yet, however, to announce a replacement for Ward.

Estranged non penso che i Foo fighters abbiano questo difetto,canzoni come time like these best of you everlong learn to fly sono molto orecchiabili ‘”rimangono in testa”e dal vivo hanno un ottima resa. Forse questa tua critica puó essere ristretta al loro ultimo album. Comunque dal vivo sono una delle migliori band in circolazione. Il loro cobcerto è davvero travolgente,suonano per due ore senza pause e on improvvisazioni davvero incredibili. Consiglio a tutti di andare.
P.s. l album di Jack White è veramente bello…mentre quellol Boss

Last year I did some songs for a film by Italian director Paolo Sorrentino (check out his previous film Il Divo). This new film, This Must Be The Place, stars Sean Penn as a kind of present-day Robert Smith (The Cure). I wrote the music, Will Oldham wrote the lyrics and Michael Brunnock sang the songs. In the film, these songs appear on a demo CD that the Sean Penn character is handed. Now, the “Italian Academy Awards” have awarded us for best score and best original song!

The soundtrack is available now on your local Amazon or iTunes and for folks in the UK, there is a vinyl collectors edition available as well!
